The Asheville Performing Arts Academy offers programs in music, dance, and drama.
We offer many different programs that can help every performer to find their place. Ranging from a weekly production to conservatory training, the APAA creates a theatrical experience where every performer can succeed and group. Our different programs are for any child in grades Pre-K through 12th grade. You can find more information about our different programs below.
The Academy: The Academy program is a conservatory style program for those students who are experienced in musical theatre and hope to grow their education through their lives. Each Academy student takes weekly dance, music, and acting classes along with participating in one fully produced, main-stage production. This program is for 6th-12th graders. An audition and interview are required for admission.
The Prep Academy: The Prep Academy at the Asheville Performing Arts Academy is intended for those in elementary school who show a love and talent for musical theatre and wish to start their training. Prep students take weekly classes in dance, music, and acting. They also perform in their own musical in the fall and are invited to join the community show in the spring. This program is for K-5th graders.
Youth Community Theatre: The APAA produces two shows a year that are open to all children in the Asheville area. The productions rehearse once a week and present a musical for their parents and the public at the end of the semester. All are welcome to join!
Drake School of Irish Dance: The Asheville Performing Arts Academy partners with the Drake School of Irish Dance. Classes range from beginners to competition dancers.
