AUDITION NOW FOR THE 2017-18 ACADEMY PROGRAM!
The Academy at the APAA is an individualized pre-professional/pre-collegiate performing arts conservatory, for artists committed to deepening their performing arts education in American Musical Theatre.
The Academy program is for rising 6th-12th graders who show a love for being on stage. This conservatory program offers weekly classes in Dance, Acting, and Music. The Academy students also put on a fully produced musical and attend theatrical performances/conferences.
The Professional Performing Arts Classroom.
Students in the Academy Program take music, acting, and dance classes every week with various master classes focusing in topics like audition, improve, technical theatre, and specialized dance classes offered at different times during the semester. Classes are taught by local theatre professionals, with training from institutes such as UNCA, North Carolina School for the Arts, and Southwestern University.
Professionally Produced Theatre for Young Artists.
Students in the Academy Program are a part of the Academy Mainstage Company. This company produces one full-length production a year with full costume, sets, lights, and props. Rehearsals take place one day a week. All academy members are guaranteed a role in the production and roles will be assigned after an audition process.
The Academy is a nationally recognized program.
